A Neural Plasticity Device Project

Welcome to our senior design project website!

"The Plastics"

Website: This website is a resource for those who are interested in our design project. You can monitor our progress through our Gantt chart. Announcements will be posted in the top right hand corner of the website. Feel free to navigate using the link toolbar located in the top left hand corner.

Introduction:
In the spring quarter of 2006, five University of California: San Diego students of BENG187A formed the team called "The Plastics" [Meet the team here].

Under the leadership of Dr. Ward and Dr. Lieber of the UCSD School of Medicine, the team was sent out to design a device that would contribute to neural plasticity research. The device would be one that would detect and resolve forces resulting from various forearm movements [Learn about the project here].

After a quarter's worth of designing in BENG 187B, the device is on its way to completion as the team implements the design in BENG 187C. The device consists of the electronics part and the mechanical part. [Learn more about the device components: electronics and mechanical].

Recently, we have obtained the Institutional Review Board approval to conduct scientific studies using our device. [Learn about the IRB approval here: Approval Information]
