Overview
Lower back pain is a global problem affecting 9.4% of the world population. The most common and effective treatment prescribed is physical therapy. Physical therapists work with patients to strengthen key abdomen and back muscle groups to take pressure off the spine and alleviate pain. Physical therapy is costly and time consuming, but without the supervision of a trained specialist, patients often perform exercises incorrectly leading to further injury. The solution is a physical therapy aid that allows patients to correctly perform rehabilitation exercises by themselves without the constant supervision of a physical therapist.
We created an adjustable physical therapy ring that can be secured to an exercise ball using an elastic band. The ring can be adjusted to different locations on the ball allowing for different levels of stability and rotation depending on the exercise being performed and the patient's needs.
